Mogens Palle

Born March 14, 1934. The most influential promoter in Denmark, Mogens Palle is the face of Danish boxing. For half a century Palle has kept boxing alive in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
During his career Palle has been involved in over 200 championship matches including 118 for the European title and 127 for the world title. Among the boxers he has guided include champions and top contenders Ayub Kalule, Tom Bogs, Johnny and Jimmy Bredahl, Thomas Damgaard, Brian Nielson, Chris Christensen, Jorgen Hansen, Steffen Tangstad and Mikkel Kessler.
During the mid-1960s Palle was the European manager of Sonny Liston and promoted four of his bouts. In 2001 Palle brought Mike Tyson to Denmark where he stopped Nielson in seven rounds in the biggest boxing event in Denmark. Other boxing legends he brought to Denmark include Carlos Monzon, Larry Holmes, Emile Griffith, Ken Buchanan and John Conteh. Palle's most recent achievement was co-promoting the Joe Calzaghe vs. Kessler super middleweight unification bout in Cardiff, Wales that drew 50,000 fans and had a worldwide audience in 70 countries.
Palle, who followed his father, Thorkild Palle, into the promoting business, now runs Team Palle along with his daughter, Bettina.
