Umberto Branchini

Branchini was born in Modena, Italy on July 17, 1914.

 

A prominent boxing manager in the 1960s and 1970s, he guided an international stable of fighters, including 10 world champions and 43 European champions. Among his champions are light heavyweight Miguel Angel Cuello (Argentina), super welterweight Rocky Mattioli (Italy), flyweight Chartchai Chionoi (Thailand), lightweight Pedro Carrasco (Spain) and heavyweight Francesco Damiani (Italy).

 

Although based in Italy, Branchini arranged fights on six continents during his 50-year career in boxing. He died in March 1997 at age 82.
