Born Caleb Stephen Ramsbottom on April 22, 1769 in Westminster, England.
"The Pride of Westminster" began his boxing career in 1786 and would only taste defeat one time.
A champion lightweight, he registered wins over Arthur Smith, Bill Burke, Bob Packer and Jem Jones throughout England before meeting Hall of Famer Dutch Sam in 1804 at Woodford Green. After 37 frantic rounds, Baldwin was beaten for the first and only time in his legendary career.
Following a draw with Bill Ryan in 1805, he didn't box again until 1816, when he defeated Young Massa in 13 rounds. He retired following that bout with a 13-1-1 record. Baldwin died in London, England on November 8, 1827.
